I have had several students and clients ask me what a ribbon is. So, here it is in a nutshell. A ribbon is nothing more than the big toolbar at the top of Office 2007 or greater. Seriously, that’s all it is! In Office 2007, the toolbars and menus were all replaced with ribbons. Each ribbon has a name and a tab with its name (Home, Insert, Page Layout, References, etc.). When one of the tabs is clicked, that ribbon comes to the top. So, when I refer to a ribbon when talking about an Office application, that’s what I’m talking about!
